Adolescent girls discharged from semi-family centers face multiple challenges in their career development and transition to independent living. This study aimed to identify and elucidate the main career path challenges experienced by this group during their transition to independence. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with seven discharged adolescent girls, with a mean age of 27 years. Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using thematic coding to extract key patterns and experiences. Analysis revealed ten primary themes: educational challenges; difficulties associated with living in semi-family centers; lack of preparedness before discharge; influence of social relationships on career decision-making; challenges in job selection; psychological factors affecting career development; role conflicts between work, education, and family responsibilities; financial and livelihood insecurity; breakdown of supportive networks; and challenges in achieving job stability. The study highlights the critical need for targeted pre-discharge career training and sustained post-discharge support to facilitate effective career development and successful transition to independent living. Interventions should address educational, psychological, and social dimensions to improve employment outcomes and overall well-being for this vulnerable population.
