Objective: The present study aimed to compare conflict management strategies employed by Sahmgozar low-conflict parents and non- Sahmgozar high-conflict parents in their interactions with their adolescent children in Tehran. Method: This qualitative research was conducted using grounded theory methodology. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with purposefully selected participants, consisting of parents identified as either Sahmgozar low-conflict or non- Sahmgozar high-conflict in their relationships with adolescents. Sampling continued until theoretical saturation was reached, resulting in 12 Sahmgozar low-conflict parents and 9 non- Sahmgozar high-conflict parents, selected based on defined inclusion criteria in 2022. Data analysis followed Strauss and Corbin’s coding procedures based on grounded theory. Findings: Analysis of interviews with Sahmgozar low-conflict parents yielded 36 open codes, 4 axial codes, and 1 selective code labeled as "expansive and constructive parental strategies within a connected relational context with the adolescent." In contrast, interviews with non- Sahmgozar high-conflict parents resulted in 29 open codes, 4 axial codes, and 1 selective code described as "ineffective and restrictive parental strategies within a disconnected relational context with the adolescent." Conclusion: A Sahmgozar parental attitude and approach can provide a foundation for the use of constructive strategies that facilitate conflict management in parent-adolescent relationships, ultimately fostering a developmental relationship marked by mutual peace and satisfaction.
