Abstract
Objective: The aim of the present study was to qualitatively investigate the role of social models on the dimensions of adolescent identity (case study of cyberspace celebrities). Method: This qualitative study was conducted using a phenomenological method. Participants included adolescents aged 14 and 15 years living in Tehran province in 1402-1403 who were selected using purposive sampling method and according to the inclusion criteria. The data were examined using semi-structured and in-depth interviews with these individuals and reached saturation with 14 interviews. The data were analyzed using an interpretive method based on the Van Manen model. "Covering unmet psychological needs" and "Creating a passive learning pattern", "The role of social factors in adolescent identity", "Mental transformation", "Value and normative dissociation" and "Family deconstruction" were classified into the main themes. Results: Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that adolescents are influenced by cyberspace celebrities in their identification dimensions as social models. Finally, it is suggested that educational and therapeutic intervention programs be developed in counseling centers, schools, and related institutions for families, teachers, principals, and assistants to teach them how to behave with adolescents and raise awareness of adolescents, as well as for adolescents themselves directly.
