The aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of Adlerian Play Therapy on social anxiety and emotional self-regulation in children with stuttering, in which a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group was used. The statistical population in this study consisted of all 8–10-year-old children with stuttering disorder in Tabriz in 1403. Thirty people were selected to select the sample using purposive sampling. To determine the effectiveness, the Katman and Miniwallen (2016) treatment protocol was used, which was implemented in a group for 8 60-minute sessions. Both groups were evaluated with the Jarabak (1996) Social Anxiety Questionnaire and Gross and John (2003) Emotion Regulation Questionnaire as a pre-test and after the completion of treatment as a post-test. Finally, after collecting the data, descriptive statistics methods of mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics of univariate analysis of covariance test were used. The significance level in all tests was considered to be 0.05. The findings showed that there was a significant difference between the control and experimental groups in both variables of social anxiety (p<0.001) and emotional self-regulation (p<0.001). According to the results obtained from this study, Adlerian play therapy can greatly help reduce social anxiety and increase emotional self-regulation in children with stuttering.
