English

This research aimed to investigate the lived experiences of adolescent athletes regarding the dimensions of resilience. Resilience, defined as the ability to bounce back from adversity, plays a significant role in both life and sports. This study was conducted to identify and analyze the experiences of adolescent athletes at the Dokuhe Sports Complex located in District 7 of Tehran in 2023 and to determine the factors influencing their resilience. This was a qualitative study using a phenomenological approach. Purposive sampling was employed to select adolescent athletes from the sports center, and in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 of them. The data were coded and analyzed using content analysis and the MAXQDA software. The findings revealed that resilience in adolescent athletes was influenced by various factors, including family support, coach support, teammates, positive and negative sports experiences, self-belief, intrinsic motivation, and stress management abilities. The results indicated that resilience in adolescent athletes can be affected by multiple factors such as social resilience, physical resilience, mental and cognitive resilience, environmental resilience, individual resilience, and emotional resilience. Strengthening these factors can contribute to improving sports resilience and athletic performance. Therefore, it is recommended that coaches and sports officials design and implement programs to enhance resilience in adolescents.
